A wet and miserable day saw Luton Town slowly out of the blocks and for the second week running found themselves 2 goals behind in quick succession however great resolve was shown and admiringly heads did not drop. A successful foray into the D bought a much needed Luton Town short corner which was expertly dispatched by Perri D'Cruz - game on! Welwyn aren’t league leaders for nothing and another rapid move saw them increase their lead to 3-1. Indiana (indy) D'Cruz continued to torment Welwyn and along with another lung busting run from Alfie Hutton worked the ball well up the right hand side of the pitch for Syed Gardazi to benefit slotting the ball nicely under their keeper just before the whistle went to end the first half. 3-2 was a very respectable score after a hard half. The 2nd half started badly with Welwyn adding to their tally within 45 seconds of the restart, now Luton had to really dig in and they did just that. Great work by the newly assembled back 4 allowed Richard Hobbs to venture forward and he have (another) impressive game but Robin Barnes was resolute and ensured that Welwyn through their main dangerman didn’t increase their lead and the final score in the 2nd half was 1-0 (FT4-2), which Kyle Beirne had a stormer or realistically this could have been 6-2. we’ll take that and there was no doubt that the league leaders knew they had been in a game!
