Luton Town men's 2s travelled to Southgate knowing that an injury depleted squad would mean a difficult game, but the visitors started by far the stronger, with several strong attacks early on. Having failed to score however, Luton were soon overwhelmed by the opposition, who broke through Luton’s stout defence with a strong short corner beating keeper Nate Wiseman to put the home side ahead at the break.
The second half began with renewed vigour for Luton, who came close to goal several times with efforts from Nathan McNeil and Nikhil Dodhia coming closest. It was the Home side who broke the second half deadlock however, with a fantastic shot against the run of play, and another short corner seven minutes later found the corner of the net to make the score 3-0.
Luton continued to press however, and once Danny O’Connor had returned from a spell on the sideline after being shown a green card, Luton found the goal at last, With Nikhil Dodhia converting Dean Pierce’s aerial ball to make the final score Southgate 3-1 Luton Town, with Nate Wiseman being voted Luton’s Man of the Match for an impressive display as stand-in goalkeeper.
