3 more points lost

Luton Town Mens 2s were hoping to break a run of bad results in recent weeks, and Victory against St Albans was definitely on the cards. The home side did not get off to an ideal start however, when the ball was lost at the feet of Keeper Joseph Gough, and the St Albans striker pounced to give the visitors the lead early on.

Town thought they could amend the deficit immediately when Lawrence Buckingham, a standout star of the last game, won a penalty stroke after a positive drive into the penalty area, drawing a deliberate foul by the defender. Luton hearts were broken however, when Ross Edwards saw his penalty crash into the crossbar, leaving the score at 1-0 to the visitors, and despite an up turn in play, Luton could not equalise before the break.

Things seemed to turn around after the break, with Luton dominating the ball in every way early in the second half, eventually winning a short corner after fine work from Nikhil Dodhia and Nathan McNeil in the Luton forward line. The corner was expertly finished by Ross Edwards, levelling the score and possibly earning him And that gol for Edwards seemed complete when more excellent play, this time lead by Ryan Siddons resulted in another Short corner and an improvised strike by Ross gave Town the lead for the first time.

St Albans hit back almost immediately, capitalising on a loose clearance from the back line to Level the score once more. And the visitors capitalised again before the final whistle, reacting quicker than the home side after a missed foot foul by the umpire, taking advantage and a goal that ultimately won them all 3 points, leaving Luton Town to Rue another loss they sorely did not deserve.

Luton will be hoping for a turn in fortunes and a much needed win when they travel to bottom Side Bishops Stortford next weekend, and whilst it is clear to see they their performances have deserved more, the red must start converting these performances into results, if they are to avoid a relegation scrap later in this season.
