The day started off as cold, and with an early morning match in October, it quickly turned to rain. Luton 4’s played in our signature formation, 5-4-1, and just as the whistle blew, the rain started. It would persist for the entire match, and by the end it was wet enough that you could sea Noah waving as he went by on his ark.
Both teams played excellently. It was like tug of war - one team would gain possession, run, break through, and, by bad luck or good defence, miss. Throughout the game, Benn Waller, Tarlochan (T) Singh, and George Dobson had very near misses. Until a short was called in Southgate’s box.
Here, Robert Maidment, who stood out especially this match, scored Luton’s first goal.
A few minutes of back and forth, and half time was called. The weather was a negative for everyone, but Luton was well motivated, and with a good talk from our team captain, we went into the second half well prepared.
This half was very similar. Except Southgate was tiring, and clearly pressed by the rain(and at times, hail) while Luton powered through. Luton’s second goal was scored Lawrence Buckingham, his first goal in the men’s senior team's, and well shot. Our third was tapped in by Kyle Beirne, with an amazing assist from Nathan Wiseman. In the final fifteen minutes, a few last charges were made from both sides, none of them successful.
No injuries, no cards. Luton’s keeper complained that he had little to do. ‘It better not be like that next game.’
And it’s been agreed we’ll let the enemy take some shots at him, just to keep him entertained.
To clarify it's been two games scince Benjamin Cornforth knocked another players teeth out.
