On arrival it felt very cold and both teams were very eager for the game to start however it was Letchworth who managed to settle; quicker than the snow and in a purple patch of ten minutes of clinical finishing that Luton Towns goalie Tom Briggs could do nothing about found themselves 0-3 down?!
As the snow started to fall quicker and thicker this spurred Luton Town into action and the ball was now being fed around the angles from defence by Ian Hutton to his willing recipients in midfield and beyond, none more so than the ever wiling Zac Sharif who epitomized the passion and effort which was now being shown the rest of the team; which in turn was starting to wear down Letchworth. Regrettably Luton town lost a player to illness at half time but this done nothing to dampen down their desire to win and if it was not for Letchworths goalie having an inspired game then this match and score may have a been alot closer.
Deep into the 2nd half a rasping shot from Chris May brought out the best save of the day which galvanized Luton Town who pushed Letchworth further and further back into their own half. The breakthrough came when a ball fizzed in from Alfie Hutton from the touchline produced a penalty corner which was converted with aplomb by Robin Barnes - 1-3 game on!
In the dying minutes of the game when most of us could no longer feel our fingers or toes Rory Hewitt broke into the D latching onto a lovely ball from Kyle Bierne and was very unlucky once again foiled by the Letchworth goalie.
The score ended at 1-3 but didn't tell the full story of a close game and enjoyable game.
MOTM: Zac Sharif.
