Unfortunate events for Luton Town Men's 3's

Luton Town Men's 3 hosted Hertford 4's. Town started with their usual style of play, leading to an excellent goal by Player of the Match Mark Plane who managed to stop the ball on the baseline and drag it back towards goal with a startled Hertford keeper couldn't stop the shot. 1-0 Luton Town.

Hertford then went on the attack and won a short corner. The visitors ended up having five short corners in a row thanks to the Luton defence, but finally broke through and found the back of the net.

They didn't stop there, straight away managing to recover the ball from Luton on the restart. Before long, Hertford was on the breakaway as they found themselves in a 2-on-1 against Luton keeper Kyle Beirne. Despite staying on his feet, the ball went found the second attacker who subsequently sent it home into the net.

Luton was spurred on now and the midfield pairing of Damien Bunting and Matt Dobson made some excellent runs, however all fell short to the solid Hertford defence. Just before half time Hertford managed with another quick break to bag a third goal.

Luton still had a chance to get back into the game and with the half-time team talk they set about the attack plan.

The second half commenced with Hertford pushing back and, with a well-worked attack, found themselves with a sideline ball just outside Luton's 23m line. They pushed the ball into the circle at rocket pace and managed to find their striker on the penalty spot, who with lightning reactions picked the ball and fired it into the far corner of the goal.

Luton continued to fight and with every fan turning up to cheer them on they edged closer and closer to a second goal. Hertford continued their relentless attacks too and despite the Luton defence running in to their own keeper he managed to keep Hertford to only 4 goals for the rest of the game.

Full time came and despite an early and promising start Luton were disappointed with the out come.

Final score: Luton Town 1-4 Hertford

Next Saturday sees Luton Town Men's 3s travel to take on St Albans 6s, with Luton hoping to upset the Tangerine Army’s promotion run with a win in their own fight to avoid relegation.
