Lessons well learnt.

The first half went so quickly and before we knew it we were 6 goals behind due to a mixture of simple hockey, accurate shooting and good fortune by today’s opposition. There was no lack of effort or industry by Luton with glimmers of creativity provided by the evergreen Perri and pleasingly heads didn’t drop.

After a ‘much needed’ change of formation to 4 at the back we came out in the 2nd half with fire in our belly and within just 3 minutes after some short, sharp passing through the midfield Alfie put on the afterburners, jinked inside his man and from the top of the D despatched the ball into the bottom corner; a well-deserved and much needed goal.

Sadly shortly after this we lost Adam to a rash challenge (one of a series that went unpunished) so had to re-shuffle, which is when Hayden, Rory and Richard really showed their metal and marauding runs from Luke nearly increased the score after another mesmerising dribble (one of many) by Indy found Benn in space and before Benn could shoot he was crudely taken out by the defender; and a free hit was given. The team were now spurred on for more goals. They dominated the second half with Perri coming closest to increasing Luton’s’ goal tally with a powerful shot that thundered off the post from a well taken short corner.

The game ended 1-6, with all the damage done in the 1st half, however, with a 2nd half 1-0 score line the team need to take this as a confidence boost into the next game.

Lessons must be learned (not 3 at the back) and silly mistakes MUST be eradicated if we want to progress up the league
