Men's 3s Hammer Struggling Broxbourne

Luton Town Men's 3s arrived in Broxbourne hoping for a strong response after a difficult defeat at home to Harpenden last week. Any nerves that had been carried over from the previous match were eliminated immediately, after an extended period without giving the ball away, Dean Pierce drove impressively into the Dee before dragging a powerful shot just inside the near post to give the visitors the lead after only 3 minutes. 4 minutes later Steven Pierce tee'd up Nathan McNeil from Town's first Short Corner to double the deficit.

Broxbourne offered very little going forward, with all driven passes through the middle of the park cut out by Russell Maidment and Nav Ahma forming a strong Centre Back Pairing. The hosts also attempted several runs down the win, but all were out out by Fullback Harpreet Uppal in inspired form. It seemed at this point Luton Could do no wrong, and were soon unleashing more efforts on the young Broxbourne Goalkeeper. Good play between the midfield 3 and some quick thinking from Ben Waller won the Red's another short corner, which was narrowly struck wide from Benn Wallers driven shot.

Town were beginning to lower their intensity towards the end of the first half, preferring to simply re-buff their opposition rather than pushing forwards themselves, but left nobody in any doubt of their capabilities when a sudden counter attack caught Broxbourne off guard and resulted in Benn Wallers first league goal of the season, and the striker found himself open again just moments later, only to be brought down whilst attempting to pull the ball around the charging keeper. Towns appeals fell on def ears however leaving the half time score: Broxbourne 0-3 Luton Town

If Broxbourne had intended to re-group during the second half, their attempts were in vain as Luton began another siege on the Hosts goal, With Steven Pierce, Benn Waller, Dean Pierce and Nathan McNeil seeing multiple efforts stopped by the Keeper. Only 6 minutes into the second half, the Red's added to their Tally with a goal resulting in some fine play through the midfield.

After several more efforts on goal, Luton Town had to start defending, as Broxbourne found some Rhythm and were able to muster a few promising attacks, only to be rebuffed by a strong Luton Defence. The Blues only managed 1 shot on goal in the entire game, forcing a fine save out of Rising Star Antonio Katsianis, who had been untroubled until that point.

Luton Town rounded off the scoring with a fine goal from yet another short corner leaving the final score: Broxbourne 0-5 Luton Town, giving the Red's their first win of the season, and their first defensive clean sheet in two years.

Harpreet Uppsl was voted Player of the Match for what many perceived as his best ever performance.

Luton Men's 3s next match is at home to Bottom of the table Shefford and Sandy.
