Dominate Town get back to scoring and winning!

Come Saturday 14th of October the sombre mood from the 9-0 thrashing against Hertford the week before was all but a distant memory and there was a positive, optimistic vibe when Luton Town Men's 1st XI hosted Berkhampsted 2's at home.

This positive vibe was capitalised on straight from the beginning as Luton began to dominate possession and chances early on without scoring. However the deadlock was broken early on in the first half at a short corner, where Cameron Sarrington found himself on the ball after a firing pass from Phil Adams from outside of the D, which Cameron put away with ease into the goal. Berkhampsted didn't let their heads drop as a run from midfield 10 minutes later leaded to them putting the two sides equal with a shot from the top right of the D to the bottom left hand corner.
Luton continued to dominate. However the half ended 1-1.

Lutons pre season fitness came into play in the second half as Berkhampsted began to feel the lactic acid build up in there legs. Which allowed Luton to convert 3 short corners in quick succession. David Pike being responsible for the first two, as the specialist drag flicker got his his drag flicking tally off the mark with 2 extraordinary flicks, the latter could not have been anymore in the top left hand corner if he had tried, beating the goalkeeper by a fair distance. The final short corner was scored by Azmat Rashid, who managed to get a touch on another one of David Pikes fast flicks and put it high in the net, resulting in Luton being 4-1 up with plenty of time left to play.

Luton did not step of the gas and found themselves 5-1 up through Ryan Patel who proved that he covered the majority of the pitch by being at the right place at the right time to place the ball into the open goal at the back post. This was Luton's scoring done for the day.

Berkhampsted still had some fight left in them as their attacker ran down the line and managed to win a short corner after cutting back leaving Dan Crimp no option but to collide with the attacker in the D and take his stick with him resulting in the short corner. It was Berkhampsteds second short corner that led to a goaline clearance from Dan Crimp. However the young talented player that had an otherwise solid game providing aerial balls to the centre forwards managed to deflect the ball onto his own knee resulting in a penalty stroke. It could have been argued that the ball was going wide after the deflection but Luton showed their sportsmanship and kept their mouths quiet. It was the experienced Berkhampsted centre forward that managed to squeeze the ball past Luton goalkeeper Mark D'Cruz resulting in the game being 5-2.

This score was then held on to as Luton's defence and midfield showed their composure by enjoying the possession of the ball for the rest of the game. Man of the Match award went to David Pike for his continuous running down the line and two outstanding drag flicks.
