A very well disciplined team performance by Luton saw them see out an excellent game 1-0 away win against Royston, helping them narrow the gap between the two teams.
Royston start the game off in possession yet it was clear from Town had a game plan, allowing the opposition to have the ball in their own third. With Luton setting their stall out early and Royston eager to take the game to Town, Luton were able to force the opposition into making mistakes. First opportunity fell to the home side who managed to capitalise on wayward pass from midfield which forced Tom Dobson into action making a superb one-on-one save to avoid the home team going ahead.
Moments later saw the only goal of the game when Carter Bright’s cross caused havoc in the Royston circle, the ball settled in front of Bryn Owen nicely for him to pass into an empty goal; 0 – 1 Luton.
The second half saw Luton continue to hold strong, limiting the opposition to a few short corners for chances. Town on the other hand had plenty of chances to increase their lead but to no avail. Several counter attacks saw Luton create numerous overloads with no end product.
Game finished off 0 – 1 to Luton, with that being Town’s first clean sheet of the season. Luton Town’s Man of the Match was Tom Dobson for an excellent game in goal.
Next week sees a nearby county derby, Luton versus West Herts.
