This week saw Luton take on Welwyn Garden City, with the rain pouring down, the usual sticky and slow Challney pitch came to life!
The game started with a bang when a great passing move from Luton was finished when Jack Madden slotted it home from a tight angle within the first five minutes. The rest of the half saw Luton on top with the slippy pitch causing havoc with players slipping on both sides with Luton’s Luke Titmus providing the best entertainment for the watching spectators.
The second half started with Welwyn quicker from the start, winning a short corner and converting with a drag flick into the bottom corner. The game became very even at this point until Luton came forward on the counter attack where a string of bad tackles on Brun Oven, resulted in two players each receiving a yellow card. Welwyn were now down to 9. Luton took full advantage during this period with Jack Madden scoring a great goal by teeing himself up to put it top bags (top corner)! 2-1 Luton.
With Welwyn back to full strength the sides were even again, but when Luton won a short corner with 5 minutes to go, the first shot was blocked and ricocheted straight to Cameron Sarrington with time and space to pick a spot, he put it through the keeper legs to put the game beyond Welwyn.
Final Score: Luton Town HC 3-1 Welwyn Garden City HC
