Well played!

Chiltern

A local derby this week with Luton Town Hockey club playing Chiltern Ladies 2s.

A muggy day making it hotter than it seemed, Luton warming up just trying to work out where the ball would go when it hit one of the ‘Line Ditches” A few late players due to getting stuck in the traffic near every fuel station in and around Luton, they managed to get there with Chiltern winning the toss and first push back. Luton came onto the attack very quickly, and being rewarded their first goal after 7 mins by Sam Sweet managing to just hook the ball past the GK. Luton keeping up the attack, with Emma Halsey and Kerri Wheadon getting the crosses in, the forwards finding good space, but just not able to connect and slot the ball home (Hiba…it will happen I just know it will). At 18 minutes, cross in from Helen Beattie with Sweet scoring her second of the match. Luton knowing in the half time they just needed to step it up a gear and finish the game.

Luton carrying on the attack throughout the second half, not giving Chiltern a chance to counter attack. Beattie was able to claim her player of the match with goals 3 and 4, her constant hard work throughout the game rewarded with her second goal a spectacular strike passing GK head height into the top left corner of the goal. Continuing hard work from the midfield, Alisha Patel showing her skills around the Chiltern defence to cross the ball into the D for Wheadon this time to slot the ball into the goal. Final goal, crossed, a high strike that the Chiltern GK managed to get to but just couldn’t clear it and the 6th goal for Luton 3 minutes before the final whistle.

A great game for Luton, the hard work from midfield and the forwards claiming the ball, pushing high and passing round rewarded them the win, now 2 wins from 2 games.

A quiet game for the defenders this week, Amii and Jo playing well to stop the attacks when they did manage to break through, and goalkeeper Tadiwanashe just watching on and I’m sure ready to pounce if needed.
Well done to Jo on her first full game with the team.
Thanks as well to Becca and Ayse for their help in each half, you both worked hard for us, even before your own match, in helping bringing the ball up to the attack to the midfield and wingers to cross into the D.

Player goes to Helen, always hard working all around the pitch and the goals, nominations as well for Sam and Kerri.
DoD to Kerri for a spectacular fall, that is apparently on camera. No accident form needed this week though!
