A cold rainy day wasn’t going to dampen the spirits of the Luton ladies 2s, sitting at the top of the league, but a game ahead of 2nd and 3rd positions St Albans and Shefford & Sandy that were playing each other today, but close on points they knew that they would need to play well.
Luton started strong in the first half, on the attack with a chance of goal early on, but the ball not falling well and off for Bishops Stortford hit out. Game even for first 15 mins, but Stortford then gathering themselves and the young team playing a tight game scored from a good run and pass into an unmarked player and a tap into goal. Half time chat, Luton not doing anything wrong, but any chances they had just not resulting in anything.
2nd half Stortford on the attack for the majority of the half. Luton going into defensive mode and not able to push up, but not giving up. They were able to get a couple of breaks up into their D, but Stortford each time winning the ball back and straight back into attack. Luton played hard, and did well to keep the score as it was, for just the third loss of the season, but a good game played to a well controlled team. With St Albans claiming 3 points,Luton now sitting at second in the league, at home next week to Stevenage
Player of he match to Lindsey Bierton this week, playing well in a new position of centre forward, winning some good balls, from a tightly marked game.
PS Any errors in the above may be as a result of the mild concussion I had from this game, so might have made some of it up ?
