Gale laughed!

Top of the league team St Albans 6s were the visitors this week, and having been beaten a few weeks earlier by the other St Albans team 7-1, Luton knew that they would have to work hard to take something from this game. But from the start Luton were straight into the attack and 10 minutes into the game Beth Carlisle with a run up the wing was able to cross the ball to set up Helen Beattie to strike it neatly past the goal keeper.

St Albans on the restart, tried to get back into the game and push on the attack, but unable to break through the solid Luton defence. Olivia Sturrock playing Left back this week was able to run the ball up to midfield and away from danger. Captain Leah O’Shaugnessy was able to control the middle of the field from some difficult attacking balls from the St Albans midfield. Luton regaining the attack again won a penalty corner, this time Grays strike saved, and the rebound falling on the stick of Claire Clancy to claim the second goal of the game. The away team now getting frustrated were unable to keep hold of the Luton attack, with midfield players Emma Halsey and Charlotte Melish fighting hard to play the ball into the D. Finally, after a scrabble in front of the goal, Katie Gray was able to knock it in for the 3rd goal just before the half time break.
Just into second half, sturrock off with injury, with Luton now with no subs, they had to keep calm and make the ball do the work. A more evenly matched second half, with both teams battling to attack, St Albans now were able to break down the defence and find space for a shot on goal, for an unfortunate rebound from O’Shaugnessy for OG. Final whistle blown with a good win for Luton 3-1

Luton this week, perhaps not 100% confidant going into the match won a well fought game, with excellent teamwork that all paid off.
Player of the match was close this week but Awarded to Beth Carlisle for her consistent strong play and attacking runs.

The win takes them to third place in the league
