to Welwyn

After losing the last 2 games, Luton Ladies 2s needed to get back into the winning ways from the start of the season. Welwyn were the visitors this week, and although sitting near the bottom of the league table, they have come out with some good hockey in the past so Luton knew they couldn’t relax in the game.

Luton winning the coin toss chose to push back first, and showed their strength from the start with the first attack by Beth Carlisle, scoring the first goal just 5 minutes into the game. Confidence high for Luton, kept the attack up with the second goal from Helen Beattie just a few minutes later.
Luton now with their scoring heads on were able to score another 3 into the break with goals from Carlisle, Beattie and Katie Gray.
Second half, Welwyn came out a bit more determined but just not able to get through the Luton midfield and defence with Olivia Sturrock Playing well in centre mid preventing the long balls that Welwyn were now trying to feed up for the attack.

Carlisle was able to get her Hat trick of goals, and from some well worked corners more goals from Gray, Emma Halsey, Lyndsey Bierton and Charlotte Mellish.
Unfortunately the heads went down for Welwyn and the last goal for Sturrock came from a penalty flick. Final score 11-0 to Luton should help their season to keep them in the top half of the table. Player of match this week to Olivia Sturrock
