Southgate were the visitors for the Luton ladies 2s this week. A team that they hadn’t played before, but knew it wouldn’t be an easy game. Luton though were able to hold their own in midfield and keep the ball at the right end, but the finish today not going their way. The first goal scored by Southgate with a run down centre and an easy tap in past the Luton GK. Southgate kept on top of the game, with a couple of chances kept out by defender Julie Halsey off the line.
Luton still strong in midfield, with Claire Clancy, Helen Beattie and Emma Halsey playing some strong hockey linking with Lyndsey Bierton on the right Southgate though again managed to score their second just before half time with another simple goal.

Second half Luton regrouped and reorganised themselves but just couldn’t get back in the game and make the attacks they needed, Southgate played a strong game, with more chances kept out by a strong Luton defence and another off the line by Gale Charles.

Final score 2-0 to Southgate
Player of the match to Gale Charles.
