Cuddles before the game

The third match of the season, and the first home game Luton ladies 2s hoping for two things; 3 points and another clean sheet.
Luton started strong in the first half against the visitors Letchworth. Majority of the half in the attacking D with Letchworth defending well. Finally, with less than 10 minutes from the halftime break Luton were awarded a penalty corner. Previous attempts in this game unsuccessful, this time with the ball stopped by Katie Gray, pushed to Helen Beattie on the left, her shot at goal kicked out by the GK, but the re-bound straight to Emma Halsey to tap it in for the first goal.
More attacking play saw a good chance for Karen Simms from a cross by Beattie, but unable to gain the touch needed to make it count.

Second half saw Luton coming out the strongest again with a good period of attacking play. The second goal coming from Taz Ferdous in open play, again with Beattie passing into the D, rebounding off the GK onto the stick of Taz to tap it in. Letchworth has a good period of attack but good defensive work from Gale Charles, Gray and Leah O’Shaugnessy backed up by GK Siobhan Barden. The third goal again from a short corner routine with the ball falling into place for Halsey to neatly slot it past the Letchworth GK.
Ferdous found the energy and speed to make some great tackles and runs up the pitch, this game though not finding the finishing touch needed to get more on the score board.

Luton though, their wishes granted with a win and a clean sheet puts them to 4th in the table, but a game less than the top 3 teams. A win next week away at Broxbourne will help their campaign for the top spot.

Man of the match to Helen - plenty of assists this game, and a few shots as well

Moments - to Taz....for the missed chance into the empty goal, where she thought she needed to get the 9 iron out and swing the ball in to the goal, and hitting the ground first

other close contenders for moment went to Katie after she decided to take Siobhan out during warm up...both ending up as a tangled mess
Leah for spectacularly falling over (don't think she was drunk?
