A Miserable, Cold afternoon away in Bedford for Luton Ladies 2's. Leaving them 2-0 down! Gales big shoulders and chatting to their umpire, Ronni defending a short corner from the half way line. Luton having Several chances to score from Taz, Helen, Lauren,Kerry and Captain Leah having a few as well. Bedford coming back with a goal in the first half leaving it 1-0. The second half flew by with plenty more chances for Luton to score but with an experienced goalkeeper they wasn't getting past her. Fast paces with defence being Luton's strength an unfortunate goal disallowed from Helen; followed by speedy passing between Luton and Bedford back and forth, up and down the pitch ending at Bedford scoring again. Leaving a first loss of the season for Luton however a very fair brilliant game played by both teams.

Or (with perhaps a few slight changes)

A miserable, cold afternoon away at Bedford for the Luton Ladies 2s. Playing Bedford is always a lively (but fair and competitive) game and this one wasn’t disappointing. For a few of the players the day started off with some Motown karaoke, but finished with Bedford town centre knowing about the visit from the Luton players..........(I am trying not to think about Wrecking Ball as will now be singing the £$^&^ song for the rest of the day)

First half saw an even game between the two teams, Bedford with their own chances but being kept at bay by the strong defensive play. Luton also with their chances by Taz, Helen, Kerri and Captain Leah but not being able to get them past, who we later found out that it was actually Maddie Hinch guest starring in goal for Bedford. 5 minutes before the end of the first half, Bedford were able to score their first of the match from a short corner. This may have been for a couple of reasons...Luton defenders were just not ready for the strike that flew through the legs of Julie unable to make contact with it from the missing swing at the ball. Ronni however earned her "moment of match" award by trying to convince everyone that she could defend the corner from the half way line using her "Go Go Gadget hockey stick" - if this had in fact worked and the stick could grow to 50meters long then good idea and we will get ourselves one!

A good half time chat from Mike, a motivated team back on the pitch. The second half mostly the same as the first, more chances by both teams in an even match. Luton did come back with a goal from Helen, struck well from outside of the D, with a lovely cheer from Ronni until confirmation that it perhaps didn’t count (those damn rules).
Strong defence by Gale "The Shoulder" Charles constantly stopping the Bedford attack. Unfortunately about 10 mins before the end of the game, Gale and the Umpire were "having a chat", either about the weather or maybe about the flying high balls (Gales free hits in case you are wondering) and he may not admired her shoulders as much as she hoped. While this was going on, Bedford took full advantage of 10 players and scored their second.

Well done though to Ronni Dagnall.....Player of the match to her today. Some good defensive play from the young player gaining confidence for the rest of the season.

So.....disappointing for Luton, in a perhaps not deserved loss against a very similar team. Good teamwork as usual, and a few things to take forward to the next game at Berkhamsted (the locals have been warned)
