Catastrophe at Cathedral City

It was on a damp, dull and dreary Saturday when Luton Town Ladies 1st XI faced St Albans and their performance much reflected the weather. Luton had entered the game with expectations high and should have fared much better against struggling St Albans. Finding themselves 3-0 down at half time was not how the story was supposed to unfold, but Luton simply did not get out of the starting blocks and paid the price early on. Despite creating numerous chances throughout the game, far more than the opposition whose shots on goal were few and far between, Luton just could not convert.

The second half was slightly better for the visitors, but the damage had been done and despite a tap in at the near post from Rochelle Lewsey which narrowed the gap they could not find a way back. Luton's frustration was not helped when the ball struck a defender's foot on the line and despite fully expecting the decision to be a stroke only the lesser award of a penalty corner was given. 3-1 full time.

The mare of the match award this week was shared by Beth Carlisle (quite important aspect of being the ball girl is that they actually remember the balls) and Shannon Smith (not a good idea to **** off an already ****** of captain during the half time team talk), whilst Ella Dagnall picked up the player of the match award.
