We need your votes to help the club win a £5k grant funding from Aviva Community Fund

The club has been successful in reaching the voting stage of Aviva's Community Fund. We're applying for £5,000 to help raise funds to benefit our junior section, diversity, and to encourage females of all ages to get active through hockey.

How can you help?

Each person gets 10 votes each per email you sign-up with, don't worry you can opt-out to receiving emails. You can then use 10 votes to vote on what cause you wish to support - all 10 votes on us of course.

Share with your friends, families, and co-workers to help us raise and put this money towards a good cause.

Project details

The project is aimed to create 5 LTHC Hockey sessions at 5 schools within the Chiltern Learning Trust and Luton. These sessions will be based at 1 female school, 2 BAME schools and 3 openly mixed ethnic schools across Luton, with the potential to expand further.

The sessions shall be run by two LTHC coaches, after school hours but based within the school grounds. The fun based sessions will focus on teamwork/cohesion, communication, and trust whilst incorporating the basic skills of Hockey. The coaches will devise weekly skill based plans to improve ability over the period of 2 full school terms. These sessions can be run indoors and outdoors (preferably indoors - no one likes getting cold!) but dependent on school facilities/availability. From this, teachers will also be able to learn the game and promote it within the P.E curriculum.

To achieve the above targets, the following action points will enable us to utilise the £5,000 funding applied to increase the inclusivity of our club:

• Purchase Indoor Hockey Equipment (Sticks, balls and cones)
• Continuously provide a safe, warm environment for learning
• Provide indoor and outdoor Hockey throughout the terms to improve development rate
• Increase female outreach by conducting female only sessions
• LTHC Schools Project promotional material
• Work directly with multicultural community wards, e.g Challney, Dallow, High Town and Saints

At the end of the project, we want to establish an inter Luton Schools Hockey tournament. This will encourage pupils to make new friends, and work towards a common goal. This will be hosted at LTHC's home pitch, allowing friends and family to come down and get involved as spectators. We want to provide a safe environment, where every individual can express themselves without worrying about being judged or discriminated against and this project will enable LTHC and Luton to sustain its unique diversity and inclusivity.
