Active Luton is delighted to announce that it will be holding a fundraising event in aid of Access 2 Sport and the Luton Schools Disability Sports Association. The event is to be held on Saturday 31st May at Stockwood Park Golf Centre, 2:00pm – 5:00pm and will also see the launch of a new initiative: ‘Foot Golf’!

This fundraiser will raise much needed money to aid:

  • The engagement of disabled children and young people in sport and physical activity.
  • The education of providers, coaches and teachers about the barriers faced by young disabled people in accessing sport and physical activity.
  • Partnership working with multiple agencies to provide sustainable sport and physical activity opportunities.
  • Coaching and competitive opportunities in a range of sports
  • Research into the sporting needs of young disabled people in order to shape future sports provision.
  • Mainstream sports clubs in developing inclusive sessions

Luton has a growing inactivity rate for young people and adults with a disability. Our aim with this event is to not only raise awareness of the specific physical activity sessions and local provisions available to those with a disability, but to also maintain and improve the Access 2 Sport Programme.
We are asking you to support this fundraiser by generously donating an item or service that we can put into a silent auction or a charitable donation. Your donated item or service will be featured on our table of auction items with a prominent acknowledgment for your company along with your business cards. We anticipate at least 150 people will attend this event. We will also feature all sponsors on our Facebook page, regularly viewed by 2000 people per week with over 950 friends, our Twitter feed, website and planned press releases for the event.

The juniors held their annual Family Fun day on 18th May.

This is usually a good chance for the parents to show their own silky skills….and then to be completely outdone by their kids!!

This year was no different – with a mad battle on the pitch, and everyone getting well involved the juniors scored an incredible 3 goals…and a consolation goal scored by the parents (some of which hadn’t played since school).

With about 30 people on the pitch – all trying to tackle each other it can get interesting, but hope that everyone had good fun and enjoyed the morning.
